If you have been looking for an all-in-one planner, the ProtoPreneur planner is your answer.
ProtoPreneur Planner was created by Yvonne Heimann, a business woman who truly sat down to think of what an entrepreneur needs in a planner. Any little thing you can think of, she has included in this planner and her efforts were well worth it. From idealization to conception, Yvonne has taken pride in creating a solid planner, inside and out. With the ProtoPreneur planner, you no longer need multiple planners; everything can easily be kept in one spot and in one easy to find location.
The ProtoPreneur planner is a compact 6 inch by 9 inches, meaning it’s easy to pick up and go. Small enough to fit in most bags and the cover design is perfect for both men and women. You have your choice of four different colors (pink, blue, grey, and black) and is made with a sturdy stitched vegan leather. The cover features a handy pen look, a pocket to hold documents, and four card slots. The cover is also reusable and you can purchase inserts for every year you use your ProtoPreneur planner – you will want to after holding it in your hands.
Some of the great features you’ll find in this planner are multiple project planning pages, financial trackers, and even client trackers. There are even sections for habit tracking and work outs – already built in! To fully appreciate the set-up of this planner, starting at the beginning is the most logical step.
Right at the very beginning of the planner, you are given four years for your year-at-a-glance. This means the current set up has the calendars from 2017 to 2020. Moving forward, you are provided a blank slate to imagine and document your dreams and what exactly you envision your life to be. It’s an open book of limitless possibility – anything you want to put here, do it. Having your big picture and your big dreams in one place will help you as you continue to use this planner and work to break down your goals and dreams. The next few pages and sections help you start to break down this information.
The next section, although tailored with an entrepreneur lifestyle, allows you to start to analyze and truly think about not just yourself, but what you want out of your life. There are sections for both your business and personal goals, but these sections can also become whatever you would like them to be. Some of the things I thought these sections would be perfect for are students who want to envision their perfect education and their education goals, or even as a wonderful breakdown for financial planning. The more you look at this planner, the more you can see how versatile it truly is.
Following your self-analysis, you start to reach the heart and soul of the planner. You start with your own personal year at a glance and a location to include your personal marketing and content schedule. The marketing and content planner is an excellent feature for new entrepreneurs because schedules are important to branding. The more your kept on target with the timings of your posts, the more followers you gain. There are dozens of studies and infographics that spotlight the average times you should be posting on each network. Having this information readily available in one spot makes your “on the go” a lot easier, especially if you’re not utilizing a tool to have these features automated or need to adjust as you move along.
From this point until you reach the additional project planning and notes pages in the back, the planner is broken up into quarterly sections. Every three months you are given reflection pages to start to break down your big picture goals into manageable and easier goals. You pick your business and personal goals for the next three months and even a section to choose specific habits you want to work on. To help further break your goals down, you’re given additional sections to give yourself deadlines.
When you reach your monthly view, the first time you see it you’ll be very surprised. It seems confusing at first, but everything is broken down for you. The planner is undated, so feel free to start using your planner as soon as you see fit. Both the monthly and weekly view have a Monday to Sunday set up, so keep this in mind! Write down your dates however you would prefer and start to utilize the rest of the features. Following along with the financial tracking, there’s a section to focus specifically on your income goals with a simple formula to see how much you need to earn in order to reach those goals. Plug those numbers in at the bottom to find that number and start to include them in the handy trackers listed for each day. There’s also a handy notes section and an additional social media and content schedule. Use that section however you see fit, but it allows you to break down your month even further.
Your weekly view is broken up into two sections – a separate weekly overview and a blank slate for you to choose exactly how you want to use it. The overview is separate from the daily section is great because it allows you to write down more information than you could. You have your “To Do” list, a place for specific projects for the week, and even habit trackers that are already built in. The main habit trackers, such as fitness, water, and networking are already placed in the planner for you, but there is also a section for you to add your own. There is also a handy bills due section and a section for follow-ups, which can be anything from client follow-ups or even checking on a previous project.
The reason I love the actual weekly section is that it’s very open. What I mean by that term is that the guidelines are there, you just have to decide how you want to move forward. At the top of the page, you have quick one or two word (or more!) journal prompts, focusing on your gratitude, your focus, and your feelings. At the bottom, you’re given a chance to mention the day’s highlights. I love these specific sections because it allows you to put things into perspective and keep track of your own personal feelings. We are not robots and the prompts are a gentle reminder that we need to take a step back and appreciate our journey. The other cool part about the weekly set up is that you can utilize the vertical set up as either a way to break your day down into lists or use it as a full 24-hour day. There is more than enough space and more than enough lines to use the weekly layout in either option. The handy notes section built into the weekly allows you to expand on your thoughts for the week or little things you think of. Much like everything else in this planner, each little piece is in its own spot.
You are given 5 full weeks of your weekly layouts before moving onto another month. Wash, rinse, repeat for the full three months and you’re provided with your goals for the next three months. Continue this system until you complete the full year.
In the back of the planner, you’re provided the additional project planning sheets that I had mentioned earlier, in addition to a place for even more notes and brain dumps. You can either use these sections separately from each other, but they do pair up if you need to use them both together.
The thought and care that was put into this planner is truly evident. When Yvonne says that she thought about every aspect of an entrepreneur’s life, she means it. This planner is an open book for you to take in whatever direction you see fit. The number of features readily available and the amount of space to add in your own is absolutely amazing. The tools are made available in this planner, you just have to take the time to sit down and use them.
