First of all, I would like to thank everyone that entered my birthday giveaway! There were so many wonderful responses and I apologize for not responding, but I loved each and every one of your stories. You are all very lucky to have amazing experiences and they were heartwarming to read. Some days we all need those gentle reminders of the small, but big, moments that we’ve experienced in life.
The three winners were Cara, Annie, and Rachel. All three of these lovely ladies have been contacted and have received their prizes! I hope that you all stick around because this is only going to be the start of bigger and better things to come.
The giveaway announcement is only part of the reason of why I come on here today. It’s been no secret that I’ve been very quiet. The truth is I needed a break from writing and creating content. Putting together the Happy Planner guide was a lot of work and truth be told, it’s not quite finished. I’ll admit that I didn’t put in as much effort as I could have on the Happy Planner Girl release guide. At the time I was writing it on a small screen, without most of my major resources, all while not remaining in one stationary spot for too long. The moments of frustration over wanting to piece together something perfect for you all unfortunately took over and things haven’t gone to plan. In addition to putting together the release guide, I was in the midst of planning my first truly involved planner meet up. The event was held yesterday and went *mostly* to plan. But that’s not the point of this post today.
Today marks exactly one year since the concept of Planner Babes came to mind. I remember sitting with my white chocolate mocha (with soy, no whip!) near the Starbucks in the atrium of the mall I frequent. I remember silently stewing in frustration, pondering my newest adventure with my planners. I remember a little sparrow had somehow managed to find itself inside the building and would find itself approaching ever closer to where I sat, notebook placed precariously at the edge of the small round table I found myself at and my laptop open to multiple websites, all planner related. I remember that little bird flying over to the seat across from me, perched at the top of the back rest, almost as if it was trying to send me a message. All too soon that bird was gone as Chris, my fiance, arrived with all smiles knowing that I was frustrated. The first words out of my mouth were not words of greeting, but instead, “I have an idea.”
From the moment he arrived and until the moment we parted, every word out of my mouth was about Planner Babes. Every little facet and piece of the puzzle that I wanted to create was uttered and put forth into the world. When I was fairly positive that I had finally talked until I was blue in the face from both excitement and aggravation, he looked at me with a face I was all too familiar with. He took a moment to ponder his response, but seemed to accept that I had a well formulated plan. “Do it.” In just an hour, the full concept of Planner Babes was brought forth into the world, the name was chosen and ideas were met with relative excitement. That night, this website was purchased and the work began.
The past 365 days have been an adventure, to say the least. We have had constant battles with server issues, multiple issues with not being 100% confident on the direction of things, and tons of changes along the way. The very concept of Planner Babes has changed several times – from whimsical and fancy free, to a strong and bold approach, and even now to a point where we don’t have that solid base that we’re looking for. Planner Babes launched very late in the game, the first posts not officially being released until April 1st of this year. We had several false starts, but April was truly the beginning of when things started to turn around.
In that time, I’ve been very fortunate to work with some amazing people. I have partnered up with Yvi from ProtoPreneur and have made an amazing new friend. I have helped Kar of NEUROPLANNER the best that I can with her Kickstarter and campaign for her science based planner. I have been approached by several other brands and are currently in the process of figuring out what direction we want things to go.
I have become an affiliate with several brands and companies. My first ever affiliate was Blitsy, an amazing website dedicated to bringing you your crafting supplies fast and I couldn’t be happier; after Blitsy came Erin Condren, another brand that so many know and love. I was brought into the PenGems affiliate community and I couldn’t be more thrilled to help support a small, but growing fast, business that provides amazing product and customer service. Most recently I’ve become an affiliate with Michaels! Each day new opportunities are presented and I’m able to move forward into a position where I can create better and amazing content.
Thank you for being a part of the past 365 days. I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us and where we’ll go.
