The Happy Planner® Academy – Happy Planner 101

The Happy Planner® Academy – Happy Planner 101

The Happy Planner is a disc bound system of planners that allow you to “live creatively and plan a happy life™.

It’s made with a nice paper weight, beautiful dashboards for each month, and is held together with heavy laminated covers and plastic discs with hearts cut out of the middle. The pages offer an easy in, easy out approach, making it easier to write down your plans as needed. This disc bound system is just one of several planner options that allow for ultimate customization for a planner.

Create 365, Happy Planner®, me & My Big Ideas

A Brief History of The Happy Planner

The Happy Planner is created by me & my BIG ideas, a company that has been at the forefront of the scrapbooking community for many years. This planner made its debut early in 2015, where it was shown at the annual CHA* Craft show. The planner launched on the me & my BIG ideas website before shortly finding its home on the shelves of Michaels Craft Stores.

With only five cover choices, a vertical format, and a few accessories, the Happy Planner community began to bloom and exploded into the planners that we know today.

The planners still feature their discs and heavy laminated covers but also come in a variety of sizes, layouts, and so much more. From mini fitness planners to big planners designed specifically for teachers and multiple options in between, there’s a planner for everyone.

In addition to the well-loved planners, me & my BIG ideas recently launched a new line called Happy Memory Keeping. This new line is a fusion of the planners that so many love, but also incorporates elements of scrapbooking in a format that’s perfect for beginners.

What Can I Do With the Happy Planner?

You can do anything with your Happy Planner. The only limitations for this planner are the limitations that you provide yourself. The beauty of this planner is you can start off with a readily made planner and add and remove features to your heart’s content. There are dozens of add ons that you can include in your planner (or make a new one!) that it’s hard not to create more and more planners as you go on.

My personal favorite additions I’ve created are a budget planner, a notebook, and a planner and notebook just for the blog! These only begin to touch the surface of what you can do with your Happy Planner. If you have the vision, you can create it!

Other possibilities are vacation planners, home planners, and even a cash envelope system that works for your financial situation.

Live creatively.

Perks of the Happy Planner

Owning a Happy Planner not only helps improve your productivity but can also help your creativity. Utilizing the easy in and easy out of the pages means that decorating and writing in your plans is a breeze. You no longer have to worry about an annoying spiral in the way or be limited by a hardbound system where it can be difficult to line things up.

With the Happy Planner coming in a variety of sizes, you’re able to create a system that can flow from the smallest to biggest or streamline with multiple planners in the same size. You can also create your own planner somewhere in between the sizes readily available!

The best part of the Happy Planner is the community that comes with it. Between the community on Instagram and the many groups on Facebook, you’re bound to find a new friend.

Where to Find the Happy Planner

The Happy Planner can be found in multiple locations within the United States. The main location to purchase the planner and accessories is the me & my BIG ideas online store. Currently, the online shop is the best location for overseas customers.

The Happy Planner still has a home in Michaels, in the United States and Canada, but can also be found in the following major retailers –

  • Hobby Lobby
  • Jo-Ann Fabrics
  • Staples
  • select A.C. Moore stores

The planners can also be found in select Walmarts and Bed, Bath and Beyond stores in student edition boxed kits. It has not yet been determined whether the planners will be found in these stores long term.

In addition to major retailers, they can be found in region specific retailers such as Fred Meyer and Dillons.

** If you’re not from the United States and know of a shop or location that’s region specific and sells the Happy Planner, please leave a comment! **

Why This Series

This series is designed to be a gateway – not only for you, the reader, but also for myself.

It’s not a secret that I absolutely adore my Happy Planner. I love it so much that I want to share the knowledge and information that I’ve learned along the way.

The overall goal is to not be biased, but I also want to be able to have a place to share what I know with everyone else. After all, knowledge is power. I’ll still happily try other planners and provide a very unbiased review and test, but at the end of the day, my Happy Planner is the planner that calls to me every day.

In addition to providing me another stage to provide information, introducing this series opens the opportunity to bring in guest posting and create additional “academies” for other planners. Starting the series with the Happy Planner gives me the chance to find a format that works and create interest.
